The Super Performance team is a team that creates and recreates the most beautiful cars ever built. Recently, their latest version of the 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport has been creating buzz on the web. It's a cool version of one of the best classic Corvettes, and Jay Leno spent time in it on the road with the artisans behind this legendary car.
A high-tech team
First off, Lance Stander is the man in charge of Superformance. Originally from South Africa, Lance is, above all, a car enthusiast. He’s usually seen on California roads driving his powerful creations. What powers the car is the work of Ken Lingenfelter, the creator of Lingenfelter Performance Engineering.
A smart addition
The addition of the Corvette Grand Sport reflects the accomplishments of the entire team. This one addition took nearly eight years of negotiations in order to convince the General Motors management team of the merits of the project. Today, all of the parties are delighted.
In the world of the automobiles, it’s unusual for an independent manufacturer to have the opportunity for such an accomplishment – made all the more complicated when it comes to the legendary Corvette brand.
A design reminiscent of the original
The car was built with the original in mind, with some modifications including the suspension, certain springs and cross bars. A loud race car that announces its presence and, especially, a car that turns heads every time.
Jay Leno behind the wheel
When he’s behind the wheel, Jay Leno notices the car’s details – and that it’s exactly the same as the 1963 Corvette.
