An extra axle doesn't stop this 705-hp pickup from aiming for 4.5-second zero-to-100 km/h times
Texas-based tuner Hennessey is serving up a new Chevrolet-flavoured version of its six-wheel truck conversions in the form of the Goliath 6×6, available now but limited to 24 units.
The company found its Ford Raptor-based VelociRaptor 6×6 was such a hit that it’s taken the same formula it applied to that off-road pickup – extra axle out back, gobs of horsepower, 20-inch wheels and a lift kit – and stuck it on a Chevrolet Silverado Trail Boss Z71.
Building a Goliath begins, Hennessey says, under the hood, where one of its HPE700 superchargers gets fitted to the 6.2-litre factory V8; working with an exhaust upgrade, the tune helps the engine churn out 705 horsepower, good for an expected zero-to-100 km/h spring in the mid-four-second range.
After that, a rollbar and LED lights get installed up top; 37-inch BFG off-road tires get wrapped around 20-inch Hennessey wheels; an eight-inch lift is added, along with custom bumpers and graphics; and, oh yeah, they stick an extra axle out back.
Options include a custom interior; a Brembo brake upgrade; and a stroke of the motor so it turns out 808 horsepower instead. It’s all covered by a three-year warranty.
Of course, if you’re down with all that and do nab one of the 24 the company’s building, it will set you back US$375,000, donor truck included. But can you really put a price on this level of ridiculousness?
