GMC has introduced its revamped 2025 Terrain, featuring a comprehensive overhaul of its compact SUV offering. Slated for release later this year, the new Terrain arrives with advanced safety features, cutting-edge technology, and a bold design that takes inspiration from GMC's broader lineup.
Safety and Technology at the Core
The 2025 Terrain includes a suite of more than 15 standard safety and driver-assistance features. Significant enhancements such as Advanced Automatic Emergency Braking, Bicyclist Braking, and Intersection Automatic Emergency Braking are now included across all trims, ensuring a heightened level of protection for drivers and passengers alike. Additionally, every model is equipped with heated front seats and a heated steering wheel as part of the standard package.
Central to the Terrain’s technological appeal is the new 15-inch Premium GMC Infotainment System, complemented by an 11-inch driver information display. This system, which supports Google Assistant, allows drivers to interact with a variety of functions using voice commands. The new Terrain also introduces up to eight camera views, including an optional rear camera mirror—marking a first for the model.
Redesigned Exterior and New Trim Options
With a more athletic stance, the 2025 Terrain's exterior design takes cues from GMC's truck lineup. The redesigned grille seamlessly connects the headlamps and lower fog lights, contributing to the SUV’s robust and distinctive look. For the first time, buyers can choose a two-tone roof in either black or grey, offering a new level of customization.
Inside, the cabin emphasizes width and comfort, with sweeping lines and high-quality material finishes. Chrome accents and conveniently placed wireless chargers enhance the premium feel.
The first trim to launch will be the Elevation, which comes standard with 17-inch wheels. GMC also plans to introduce the AT4 and Denali trims for the 2026 model year, which will be available in 2025. The AT4 will cater to off-road enthusiasts with features like Selectable Terrain Mode and a lifted ride height, while the Denali will focus on luxury, offering Smart Frequency Dampers for a smoother ride.
Performance Highlights
Under the hood, all models of the 2025 Terrain will be powered by a 1.5L Turbocharged engine that delivers 175 horsepower and 203 lb-ft of torque. The SUV also boasts a maximum towing capacity of 1,500 pounds. Standard all-wheel drive and an 8-speed automatic transmission are included in the Elevation trim at launch.
The next-generation GMC Terrain is expected to debut in late 2024, with the Elevation trim hitting the market first. Further details regarding pricing and specific launch dates will be disclosed closer to the release.
